The Lechtal is a relatively less frequented ski touring destination. And we’re not talking about the peaks at the western end of the Lechtal Alps, which are right in the middle of the Arlberg ski area. Like the Valluga and Rüfikopf, for example.

It’s like night and day when you descend from the Valluga through the Almajur valley northeast towards the Lechtal. The masses crowd the summit of the Valluga and Rüfikopf. In the side valleys leading into the Lechtal, you often don’t meet a soul.

The last ice ages gave this often still untouched mountain range, whose peaks consist mainly of main dolomite, marl, Rhaetian and Aptychus limestone, a steep and forbidding character that filters out the ski touring masses. Beyond that, the best slopes are often far off the beaten track, in the heart of the Lechtal Alps, where usually only fit ski touring enthusiasts venture. #pureskimountaineering.
