The Lechtal is a relatively little frequented ski touring destination. And this does not mean the Lechtal peaks at the western end, which are located in the middle of the Arlberg ski area. Like the Valluga and the Rüfikopf, for example. It’s like day and night when you ski down from the Valluga through the Almajurtal valley north-eastwards towards the Lechtal valley. The summits of the Valluga and Rüfikopf are packed with people. In the side valleys leading into the Lechtal, you often don’t see a soul. The last ice ages gave this often untouched mountain range, whose peaks consist mainly of main dolomite, marl, Rät and Aptychenkalk, a steep and forbidding character, which selects the ski touring crowds. In addition, the best slopes are often far from the beaten track, in the heart of the Lechtal Alps, where only ski touring enthusiasts with good stamina usually get lost. #pureskimountaineering.
