Description

#huskymountaineering ski touring ice climbing husky Lechtal Tyrol

Professional mountain guiding (IFMGA, UIAGM, IVBV) combined with a team of Siberian Huskies

This is unique. The reason for this uniqueness lies in the complex care of the animals combined with their 100% integration into the professional daily life of a mountain and ski guide (IFMGA, UIAGM, IVBV).

We have developed many routines so that our teams can do their job reliably and safely both on ski tours and during approaches to alpine ice falls.

The huskies run exclusively inline – i.e. not in pairs – as is common in classic sledding. This is simply because there are no wide tracks in alpine terrain, only the trail pre-tracked with skis.

Accordingly, we have not only developed a suitable leash, but the animals have also learned to run in kick turns and are very experienced through over 100 ski tours per winter and have mastered the commands.

In deep snow, the huskies are allowed to run down the mountain off-leash all winter long. Since huskies have a very strong and primal hunting instinct, this is anything but a given. Routine makes the difference.

And this routine is rewarded daily with fresh meat, which creates a very high bond between the animals and the regulated, familiar process.

With our huskies, ski tours can also be undertaken into the long valleys of the Lechtal and Allgäu Alps to remote peaks and ice falls, where the slopes usually remain untracked.

DAY 1
Arrival, get-together, evening meet-and-greet in our kennel including info on the nature and handling of the animals, cuddling and petting

DAY 2 + following
Here we go.

Our huskies are not just a means to an end to get up the mountains faster. They are unique companions with a very special energy that they share with us. And this energy consists of

  • Motivation
  • Trust
  • Joy and dedication

With this energy, they help us ascend into the most remote and wonderfully lonely valleys and ski untracked slopes or climb ice falls in an alpine setting.
