Description

#huskymountaineering ski touring ice climbing Husky Lechtal Tirol

Professional mountain guiding (IVBV, IFMGA, UIAGM) in combination with a team of Siberian huskies

This is unique. The reason for this uniqueness lies in the elaborate husbandry of the animals combined with the 100% integration of the animals into the everyday professional life of a ski and mountain guide (IVBV, UIAGM, IFMGA). We have developed many routines so that our teams can do their job reliably and safely on ski tours as well as on ascents to alpine icefalls. The huskies run exclusively inline – i.e. not in pairs – as is usual in classic sledging. This is simply because there are no wide tracks in alpine terrain. Instead, there is only a pre-tracked trail with skis. Accordingly, we have not only developed a suitable leash, but the animals have also learned to run in hairpin bends and are very experienced thanks to over 100 ski tours per winter and have mastered the commands. In deep snow, the huskies are allowed to run off-leash down the mountain all winter long. As huskies have a very pronounced and original hunting instinct, this is anything but a matter of course. Routine makes all the difference. And this routine is rewarded daily with fresh meat, which creates a very strong bond between the animals and the regular and familiar routine.

With our huskies, ski tours can also be undertaken in the long valleys of the Lechtal and Allgäu Alps to remote peaks and icefalls, where the slopes usually remain untracked.

DAY 1
Arrival, get-together, evening meeting in our kennel incl. information about the nature and handling of the animals, cuddling and stroking DAY 2 + following
Here we go. Our huskies are not just a means to an end, which is to get to the top of the mountains faster. They are unique companions with a very special energy that they give us. And this energy consists of

  • Motivation
  • Trust
  • Joy and dedication

With this energy, they help us to ascend into the most remote and wonderfully lonely valleys and to ski untracked slopes or climb icefalls in an alpine setting.
