This one-day avalanche camp is particularly suitable for beginners in the off-piste area (ski touring, freeriding) and enables them to get a quick overall view and to build up an understanding as well as the decisive perception of those processes that are decisive for avalanche formation.

In the avalanche camp of the Lechtal Mountain School, you will learn in just 1.5 days a large part of what there is to know on the subject of avalanche formation and dangers for winter sports enthusiasts. In particular, the lecturers consistently strive to put the spotlight on the versatility of tour planning as a central element in minimizing risks. We go straight here to some indispensable information and planning portals of the respective countries.

We work out the theoretical structure together on the evening before the camp. Our mountain guides convey this in the form of a presentation. The next day we go on tour and combine this knowledge with our perception in the winter high mountains. Depending on the snow conditions we choose a suitable area and the optimal tour depending on the conditions and the possibilities of the participants.

The practical session will take place the following day (09:00-16:00) and will be conducted as a ski tour followed by practical exercises at a station.

CONTENTS

On 3 out of 4 training days, we ask the participants to independently carry out the tour management based on a common tour planning. In this way, we succeed in getting to know and "assimilating" tour planning as a central element for minimizing risks as an indispensable tool. However, this does not make our training approach technocratic by any means. We attach great importance to the fact that the participants are constantly challenged by the mountain guide about their perception of the terrain, steepnesses, catchment areas, wind signs, expositions, etc. that are relevant on tour.

But the difference is known to be greater in practice than in theory. That's why we are mainly outside and up, on the mountain.

You get in the 4-day avalanche camp of the mountain school Lechtal a comprehensive training on the subject of avalanche formation and dangers for the winter sportsman. The tour guidance is exclusively based on the joint tour planning and by the participants themselves.
