Freispitze Southeast Ridge Alpine Climbing Lechtal Tyrol

The area on and around the Freispitze (2,885 m), located in the heart of the Lechtal Alps, is incomparable due to the shapely mountains, geological complexity and the resulting blaze of color in the rock, the outstanding rock quality, and the seclusion and solitude of the tours.

The area is divided into 6 striking rock formations that adorn the flanks of the Freispitze, Rote Platte, and Fallenbacher Spitze as if polished by the hand of God. Several-hundred-meter-high Oberrät limestone formations created for climbing harmonize with solid red Aptychen limestone and yellow or green-covered brittle spotted marl on the flanks of the neighboring mountains.

The FREISpitzArena is one of the most remote areas for mountaineering and sports-alpine climbing in the entire Alpine region. The climbs are therefore consistently very serious.

Cell phone reception is only available at the summit of the Freispitzturm.

Appropriate alpine experience and a climbing level well above the specified grade are therefore essential.
