With Bergschule Lechtal, we’ve chosen a path where work, value creation, and outcomes take place at our newly established base in Gramais and in the Lechtal Alps region. This base includes not only storage areas, equipment for training courses, office, accommodation, and catering for guests, but above all the development of new routes for ski touring, freeriding, ice climbing, mountaineering, alpine climbing, and especially sport climbing.

A 5-minute walk from Basecamp Gramais takes us to the base of the Mühlschrofen, which presents itself as consistently vertical to heavily overhanging with excellent rock quality.

The climbing is consistently athletic due to the steepness and good rock structure. We find moves that are heavily overhanging,
but don’t exceed grade 8 on the UIAA scale. Beyond that, there are routes with corner climbing as well as very steep wall climbing in the north-facing section up to nearly 100m high. Overall, the routes are rather long (up to 40m) and endurance-demanding. In the high wall section, we’re establishing multi-pitch sport climbing routes.

Additionally, we’ve developed the climbing area at Haschrofe, a small but excellent crag (route length up to 20m) where we
can work ideally on climbing techniques with our guests.

We reach Haschrofe from Basecamp Gramais in about 30min. Once at the top, the mountain panorama
and the view down to Gramais definitely compensate for all the effort of the ascent.

Hubs Lindner and Marvin Kärle are the developers of both areas, especially since the Mühlschrofen is owned by Bergschule Lechtal, and the municipality of Gramais as owner ensures that in the wildlife sanctuary area of Hirschhalskopf, which extends right above the crag toward the Roßkar group, there is no uncoordinated development activity and thus no unclear liability issues in case of a climbing accident.

Every route and line is studied, discussed, and climbed in advance based on the rock structures before the bolts are placed where they belong.
