On 3 out of 4 training days, we ask the participants to carry out the tour planning independently on the basis of a joint tour planning. This enables us to get to know and “assimilate” tour planning as a central element for minimizing risks as an indispensable tool. However, our training approach is by no means technocratic. We attach great importance to the fact that the participants are constantly challenged by the mountain guide about their perception of the terrain, steepness, catchment areas, wind signs, exposures, etc. relevant to the tour.

Theory and practice

But the difference is greater in practice than in theory. That’s why we are mainly outside and up on the mountain.

We work on the theoretical structure on day 1, which we convey in the form of a presentation (outdoors). Afterwards and in the following days, the theoretical content can be wonderfully combined with our perception in the high mountains in winter. In the 4-day avalanche camp at the Lechtal Mountain School, you will receive comprehensive training on the subject of avalanche formation and dangers for winter sports enthusiasts. The tours are guided exclusively on the basis of joint tour planning and by the participants themselves. We coach you in all decision-making processes.
