Freispitze Schreck-Heel Alpine Climbing Lechtal Tyrol

The area on and around the Freispitze (2,885 m), located in the heart of the Lechtal Alps, is incomparable due to the shapely mountains, geological complexity and the resulting blaze of color in the rock, the outstanding rock quality, and the seclusion and solitude of the tours.

The Schreck-Heel route was the first line through the south face of the Freispitze, which is covered by a veritable Rhaetian limestone shield. After battling up a difficult first pitch around UIAA 7-, you reach the steep section in the lowest part. The second pitch follows an exposed traverse at grade 5 into a climbing world of pronounced water grooves that shape the way ahead all the way to the fairly steep exit chimney.
