Once you’ve arrived in the world of ski touring, there are many facets and directions you can grow into: ski traverses, ski mountaineering, high‑alpine ski tours, project-based objectives (freeride), …
This development requires expertise.
Starting with tour planning, we guide you step by step into the subject. From a technical perspective, only rope techniques and independent tour leadership are added, but this training places significantly higher overall demands on participants compared to the beginner ski touring course: in terms of fitness, ascent and skiing technique, alpine skills, and, finally, the personal qualities required when acting as a leader.
We tailor the focus areas to your abilities and requirements.
- Equipment
- Planning & decision making process (regional-local-zonal: based on avalanche.report, alpenvereinaktiv.com, whiterisk.ch)
- Orientation (map reading, compass, GPS)
- Avalanche science (building up, avalanche report, danger level, danger patterns)
- Snow science (snow profiles, stability tests, systematic diagnosis of snow layers)
- Skin track setting as well as tactics ascenting steep terrain by ice axe and crampons
- Track setting downhill – organization of the group
- Beacon training (multiple burial scenario)
- Rope techniques (releasable anchors, fixed‑rope setup)
- Independent tour leadership
- Alpine Hazards
Optional with 3x overnight stay+breakfast+lunch pack at Basecamp Gramais
For the training, we use a base. The Basecamp Gramais.
The all-in price includes the costs for 3 days of guiding with mountain guide and 3 overnight stays with breakfast+lunch pack at Basecamp Gramais.
